Consultant Pulmonologist (Head of Department)
Dr. Emad Kowatli, graduated August 1983, from Damascus University, Syria, with MD degree. Worked at private hospital and military hospital in Damascus for four years then moved to USA, participated in clinical cardiology research funded by NIH at Northwestern University and cook county hospital in Chicago IL, for one year, the result published in Chest Journal 1988, then done internal medicine residency at wright state university in Dayton OH from 1989-1992, followed by critical care fellowship at Chicago medical school/Cook County hospital from 1992-1993, followed by Pulmonary medicine and sleep disorder fellowship at university of south Florida, Tampa,FL. Dr Kowatli obtained American Boards of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep medicine, then worked for twelve years in Virginia and West Virginia USA, he was pioneer in sleep medicine established sleep laboratories in most the hospitals he worked with in USA, he directed intensive care units at Logan regional hospital and Thomas memorial hospital in West Virginia and directed ethics committee, Dr. Kowatli became assistant clinical professor of medicine at WV university, he involved in teaching medical students and residents.
Dr. Kowatli worked in Charleston in Chronic ventilator unite.
At 2007 moved to Dubai, he was the first American Board Certified Intensivist and Sleep specialist to practice in Dubai, he directed ICU and started the first sleep laboratory and insomnia clinic in UAE, he was the first Pulmonologist doing invasive pulmonary procedure in UAE, like EBUS, Cryiobiopsy, Electrocautaring and Thorascopy,
Dr Kowatli gave more than 300 educational lectures in USA and Dubai.
